Vee on why she supports and finances short films:
I am a storyteller, and stories come to me readily. I am a budding novelist, and I
love the expanse that the long form allows for a writer to play with. However, I
find screenwriting a difficult process.
So my approach is to find the next story worth telling, hopefully a twist on an
already-told story, and hire a screenwriter to create the script.
I am not independently wealthy and the money I put behind my stories comes from
my retirement income. For this reason, a selfish one, I only finance short films in
which I am the protagonist.

Directed by Charlie Roth
Charlie Roth is a writer and filmmaker known for telling poignant narratives in unconventional ways. Raised in the rural outskirts of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Charlie cultivated a forbidden love of cinema by watching movies on an old TV/VCR hidden under a pile of dirty laundry. These experiences inspired his passion for stories of disillusionment and self-discovery that explore the dynamics of truth, faith, and family. After graduating from Syracuse University with an MFA in TV and Film (and an unofficial degree in blizzard survival), he made the journey to sunny Los Angeles. He has written and directed multiple commercials, shorts, and the feature film QUINN’S PLACE (2022), distributed by Gravitas Ventures. His latest project, the mystery/crime short KADAMA will premiere on the festival circuit in 2025.
